The Dementia Centre and HammondCare, organisers of IDC2024, have paid tribute to the extraordinary talent of leading BBC medical and science journalist and producer Michael Mosley following news of his death.
Dr Mosley, 67, who was to be a keynote speaker at IDC2024 in September, was reported missing while on a Greek Island holiday last week prior to his death.
“We are all incredibly saddened to hear the news of Michael’s passing. This is a terrible tragedy,” Ms Raguz said.
Angela Raguz, General Manager, Residential Care & Dementia Centre, said her thoughts and all involved in IDC2024 were with Mr Mosley’s wife, Dr Claire Bailey, and their four children at this difficult time.
Ms Raguz said Dr Mosley had produced and presented a number of ground-breaking medical science series for television, including the BBC series Trust Me, I'm a Doctor and the BBC Horizon documentary Eat, Fast and Live, as well as authoring many books and newspaper commentary.
“While I did not know Michael personally, it is widely-acknowledged he had an extraordinary gift for communicating expert knowledge on complex areas that made them accessible for all,” Ms Raguz said. “He will be sorely missed.”
Dr Mosley was to speak to IDC2024 via video link on the critical role of sleep in dementia risk reduction.
